Our client is a premier hydrocarbon exploration and production company in the Middle East. Following a comprehensive review that led to a sweeping change programme, our client laid out ambitious production-recovery plans based not only on water flooding but also on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques. The execution of its EOR projects, the expansion of its gas production and the falling oil prices demanded a new way of working. The client asked Krauthammer to help all functions with the design of the reduction plans.

Changing the mindset to prepare for a changing future

Our client faces more complex projects which will result in growth of revenue and because of that it will need more employees to execute the work. This results is an organisation that will shift from a (small) family company into a (large) professional business. Also third party costs will grow substantially and managing risk and people will become more important. It was time for the organisation to make changes in managing the organisation as well as in the mindset to get ready for the changing future.

Bringing planning to the next level

In the previous five years, demand on the offshore logistics planning function has evolved faster than capabilities. Limited logistic resources were controlled centrally, despite differing operational needs. This led to the underutilisation of resources. Planning was often reactive, taking place within short term time windows, and allowing little opportunity to optimise activities. There was a need to identify planning performance, either within the organisation or within the third-party maintenance contractor.

Enhancing process safety & technical integrity

After successfully facilitating the Europe Region, Krauthammer was asked to design a global change management framework to facilitate the implementation of the newly developed tools and processes in all of our client’s regions and its 20+ operating units. Krauthammer facilitated the design and implementation of Local TI management health checks, gap analysis and implementation & change management plans. For Africa, Middle East and Asia region customised plans were developed and made ready for implementation (on-going).

Optimising offshore platform efficiency

Management of Offshore Operations are always faced with balancing between optimizing safety, production and cost control. Next to this the Field Operations department of our client also coped with a field with maturing platforms in the North Sea with growing maintenance attention. Krauthammer took the challenge to closely analyse the offshore processes in search of improvement potential.
